An old story with a new release is making box office headlines.
Beauty and the Beast raked in $174.8 million in its U.S. debut and nearly doubled that revenue worldwide.
This Bill Condon-directed reimagining comes out of its opening weekend at $357.1 million dollars, marking Disney's seventh debut over $350M.
Disney now holds six of the top seven domestic debuts in industry history-- Beauty and the Beast also becomes the top March debut ever for a PG-rated movie.
