Disney CEO Bob Iger delved into the field of politics during the 2016 presidential election process... and is now seemingly backing himself out of it.

After partially funding Hillary Clinton's campaign, Iger was asked to join President Donald Trump's business advisory council following the election.

The council was put together as away for the nation's top business leaders to take a look at the country's economics and add insight into how it can be improved.

Iger joined the likes of Elon Musk (CEO of SpaceX & Tesla), Indra Nooyi (Chairwoman and CEO of PepsiCo), Ginni Rometty (CEO of IBM) and others.

Today, President decided to pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Accord, making the U.S. one of three nations to not back the climate control deal. The other two nations are war-stricken Syria and Nicaragua.

This decision sent shockwaves around the world.

Now, business leaders and organizations are taking action. Less than two hours after the announcement, Iger and Musk both withdrew from Trump's advisory council.

Disney Shareholders were initially displeased with Iger joining council and asked him about it at a meeting in March. Iger said it was “an opportunity for me to express views that I think … are of value to the company and its shareholders.” He said that it was important to have a seat at the table, and that his participation did not reflect an endorsement of Trump’s positions or that of the administration.
