Nearly 250 people displaced when a fire ripped through an extended stay hotel just days before Christmas.
It took roughly 50 firefighters to put out the flames at Kissimmee's Unno Boutique Hotel on Friday. With nowhere to go, displaced residents took the few belongings they could salvage and went to the Kissimmee Middle School-- which opened up as an emergency shelter. No one was killed in the fire.
The fire devastated families who were looking to bring in the holiday cheer this weekend... and with it being the season of giving, The Walt Disney Company is stepping in and taking action. Disney World is freeing up hotel space to house fire victims 2 nights and will also be bringing them to the parks for two days this holiday weekend. U.S. Rep. Darren Soto released a statement on the generous gesture saying:
"We are happy to announce Walt Disney World has agreed to provide hotel accommodations and theme park passes to all families displaced by this tragedy, these families lost everything they had, but at least now our kids will have a reason to smile on Christmas. We will continue to work on behalf of those affected during this tough transition and recovery."
