If you've driven across Walt Disney World property as of late, you've surely noticed mass amounts of land being cleared out and roadwork being done. Right now, crews are currently working on clearing out land near Disney's Hollywood Studios for Star Wars/Toy Story additions and a brand new entrance to the park.. but there are also three other projects in the works.
Today, officials approved the $335 million deal, and all of the projects are expected to reach completion sometime in 2018.
This major overhaul includes:
A connecting road between Reams Road and Floridian Way (early 2018)
An overpass above the Magic Kingdom toll plaza (end of 2018)
New layout for Osceola Parkway/Victory Way south of DHS, north of ESPN Wide World of Sports (end of 2018)
Extension of Western Way from Flamingos Crossing to County Road 545 (mid 2018)
The new extension of Western Way will have a raised road in the middle, allowing pedestrians to walk under the median for whatever future projects and attractions may bring. Disney will also to continue to monitor traffic amongst their busiest intersections, mainly the ones along Buena Vista Drive. As each park continues to set record attendance numbers, the company is exploring new ways to make everything on property easily accessible.
Here's a look at the Osceola Parkway/Victory Way location that will be worked on in upcoming months:
