Deal Between Netflix & Disney Takes Effect this September

After waiting for nearly four years, Netflix will soon have exclusive rights to all new Disney films. Starting in September 2016, Netflix will be allowed to stream all Disney films, including ones produced by Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm. All movies released in theaters from 2016 and beyond are included in this agreement (originally signed in 2012), bringing the feature films to Netflix much sooner than they'd air on other TV networks.

This exclusive deal gives Netflix "first dibs" on streaming new movies. Disney films would originally air on Starz first, but now that this exclusive deal has gone through... the features will go straight to the streaming site first. Once Netflix starts broadcasting the movie, other TV networks like Starz and HBO can pay to show a particular movie on their channel. Unless another deal is in the works, Netflix is the only streaming network to have the right to use Disney movies. Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. will not have the opportunity to showcase the films.
