One the same day Disney hit fans below the belt with the news of discontinuing Disney Infinity, EA Sports announces a sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront.
Disney has separately licensed the Star Wars games through EA Sports, allowing for the continuation of development and production. EA confirms the sequel will be coming sometime in 2017, with all new maps, characters, weapons and skins from both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Rogue One. The original Star Wars: Battlefront was released in November of 2015 and sold more than 14 million copies-- which means the sequel will have sky-high expectations.
But that isn't the only good news--- 2 more Star Wars games will be released in upcoming years as well. In 2018, Visceral will be releasing a third-person game. The game's story mode is being written by Anne Hennig, who is responsible for the award-winning writing in the Uncharted series.
In 2019, Respawn will release their first Star Wars game, which will also be played in third-person.
