Disney's newest princess, Elena of Avalor, will be making her debut at Magic Kingdom in August and they've chosen a top-notch designer to help bring her to life.
When new characters are implemented into the parks, the first thing people usually say is "I wonder what they'll be wearing, or how they'll look." Well-- Disney has been working on a chique look for their first Latin-inspired princess. Project Runway All Stars' Layana Aguilar has been giving the task of properly dressing this young princess. Aguilar was featured on Project Runway Season 11 and the 5th season of Project Runway All Stars.
Elena of Avalor's TV series will premiere this summer on Disney Channel. Elena is a brave, adventurous teenager who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress while learning to rule as a princess until she's old enough to become queen. Her adventures lead her to understand the new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience, compassion as well other sophisticated leadership tasks.
The red ballgown was designed by Aguilar and will be one of the reference points for what Elena will be wearing when she makes her first Walt Disney World appearance. The evolution of the ballgown will be something to keep an eye on as the debut date vastly approaches.
Stay tuned for an official debut date here at Walt Disney World.
