Lots of construction going on at Hollywood Studios because of the new Toy Story and Star Wars expansion projects, but they are continuing to roll new things out for current guests. Scheduled for a May 10th opening, one building in the Echo Lake area will be transformed into a meet and greet location for three characters.
After much anticipation, Olaf will finally be making his Walt Disney World debut in his room titled "Celebrity Spotlight." The idea behind this location (hence the name) is to bring in Disney's biggest stars. There's no word on how long the character will call this specific location "home," but it's exciting news nonetheless. Other than shows and parades, Olaf has NOT made appearances on WDW property. He'll start his meet and greets at "Celebrity Spotlight" but, whether a new character takes over or not, it's tough to see him leaving anytime soon. There will be another location for him if a new character starts meeting there; maybe Epcot once Norway is all squared away. Olaf will also be venturing out to Blizzard Beach in a few months to host the Summer Games with Kristoff. So that's one character out of the way, now moving on to the mice. Mickey, who currently resides in Stage 4 will be moving to the same building across form Star Tours along with Olaf. Minnie will follow as well and guests will can see take pictures of the stars (separately) in "Red Carpet Dreams." It was rumored that Mickey will be appearing in his director's outfit, but it's looking like he'll stay in his DHS exclusive Sorcerer's Apprentice robe for now. As for Minnie.. she will be leaving her spot in between the Disney Jr. characters (Doc McSutffins and Sofia the First). The fashionista will be showcasing a NEW pink formal dress, encrusted with diamonds across the mid-section. Accessories have not been revealed yet, but it's safe to say either a tiara or feathers will be included in this luxurious setting. With Minnie leaving her Stars of Disney Jr. location, that opens up a free spot for another character. Here's where the shuffling comes in. Ever since the iconic Sorcerer's Hat was taken down, the VIPs have been moving back and forth between Center Stage and right next to the Chinese Theater. Pluto will be leaving his spot in that VIP rotation (consisting of Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Chip and Dale) as he overtakes Minnie's old spot near Disney Jr. Live. It's not certain if his relocation will take effect on May 10th. but this is said to be the plan moving forward. *The scheduled "hard" opening date was May 10th, but guests WILL be very excited for what they stumble upon on May 4th (if you catch my drift).
