'Big Hero 6: The Series' Gets Renewed for Second Season Prior to Premiere

11:25am ET

Before its TV debut slated for the Fall of 2017, Disney XD has already ordered a second season of Big Hero 6: The Series.

The show is executive produced by Emmy winners Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi (the Kim Possible team). The announcement was made by SVP of Programming and General Manager for Disney XD, Marc Buhaj.

“Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favorites Hiro and Baymax,” said Buhaj. “We are honored to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of Big Hero 6 The Series with this early second season order.”

The series takes place after the movie, following the adventures of 14-year-old Hiro Hamada (voiced by Ryan Potter) and his personal robotic companion, Baymax (Scott Adsit). The rest of the superhero crew like Wasabi (Khary Payton), Go Go Tomago (Jamie Chung), Fred (Brooks Wheelan) and Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) will also be featured in the show.

The super gang will take on both scientific and academic challenges head-on, as Hiro looks to finish his time at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology at an expedited rate.

The voice cast also features Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee as Fred’s dad.
