Disney Legend and Broadway Star Joining Forces for 'The Little Mermaid' Live-Action Soundtra

Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda has been making it known that his fingerprints are all over the future of Disney. In addition to writing songs for Walt Disney Animation Studios' Moana and making an appearance in the 2018's Mary Poppins Returns, Miranda will also be working on some tunes alongside a Disney legend for the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

Miranda and Alan Menken will be combining their musical talents to create new songs and scores, as well as create adaptations of famous songs from the original movie.

Menken, who worked on the original animated feature, won two Oscars for his work on the 1989 animated classic: Best Score and Best Original Song for “Under the Sea,” which he co-wrote with the late Howard Ashman. The two were also nominated for “Kiss the Girl.”

Per Broadway Star: Marc Platt will produce the project alongside Miranda. No word yet on when the new film will hit the big screen.
