Despite all of the new things coming to Walt Disney World this summer, Pandora still remains one of the most highly anticipated expansions to the WDW venue. Disney Parks Blog has released new photos of some props and scenery that will help bring the world of Avatar to life.
The expansion stretching over a dozen acres will be two completely different worlds whether you are a guest visiting in the early AM hours, or taking a stroll through Animal Kingdom after dark. Bioluminescent botanical aspects and special nighttime immersive programming will add life to the scenery around you--- raising the bar for theme park technology across the globe. However, it's not just the trees around you, or the floating mountains above you that will help submerge you into the Na'vi culture; but also what's flowing under you. Pandora will come to life as creatures and other glowing aspects illuminate the terrain you walk on.
Now, Avatar is a Sci-Fi conception, but Imagineer Joe Rohde and other creative minds have been working to bring a historic element of authenticity to the James Cameron franchise. Hand-made Na'vi artifacts will be draped all across the land, bringing the movies to life. As construction crews work day-in and day-out, expect progress for the two attractions ('Avatar Flight of Passage' and 'Na'vi River Journey') kick into high gear shortly. The Na'vi River Journey will showcase the intricacy and beauty Pandora will have to offer. The ride entails guests boarding canoes as the river flows and brings them through the bioluminescent rainforest, where they'll see much of the technologically advanced horticulture.
Animal Kingdom is expecting to open the gateways to this creatively compelling world in 2017. Be sure to check out more Avatar and other Animal Kingdom news in this April construction update.
