In the midst of all the budget configuration and making an effort to open up Disney's newest park (Shanghai Disneyland) on time.. executives thought it would be a good idea to informally announce Mickey and Minnie getting a facelift-- worldwide. The mice we've come to know and love over the years have always looks great for their age, and then this news came along. A picture (featured below) surfaced on Twitter this morning of the mice sporting their new look. Now official confirmation has come from Disney, but WDW guests could be seeing the Mickey and his friends in an all new way as early as the debut date for the new castle show (Summer 2016). As you can see below, Mickey seems like he hasn't aged a day, and Minnie is going to be moving towards the "all natural" look.. losing all of that makeup she used to sport. With these improvements, the rest of the VIPs will soon head to the doctors in order to get some work done in the near future. Like I said, there is no specific date for Mickey and Minnie's surgery, but don't be surprised if they are all decked out for the debut of Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire. It seems like they'll first be sporting their looks in Shanghai Disneyland, but then their passport has no itinerary; stay tuned. The only issue I see with this is: The company that has areas struggling to make a profit.. and is making cuts worldwide wants to NOW take on this expensive procedure. Hopefully it rolls out smoothly and consistently across all parks, but only time will tell. Regardless of how they look, we will always love the mice that started it all. PS: Personally, I don't think Disney wanted to break the news like this. I feel that this picture was leaked and future makeover plans will be addressed in the near future. What are your thoughts on the makeover?
