Plot twist.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast will make a huge splash (in the right direction) by revealing a gay subplot.
Director Bill Condon tells BroadwayWorld the company will be making an unprecedented move surrounding Josh Gad's character, LeFou. He went on to say the henchman develops his own personal conflict while trying to help Gaston try and win Belle's heart.
"He's confused about what he wants. It's somebody who's just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that's what has its pay-off at the end, which I don't want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie." -- Condon
Josh Gad also somewhat confirmed the decision regarding LeFou by responding to a suggestive tweet:
