VIDEO: Testing the 'Rivers of Light' Floats, Rehearsals Underway

2:28am ET

Disney's Animal Kingdom has recently cut-back on their nighttime hours-- but a lot of work has been going on as soon as the sun sets.

Last week, there were full dress rehearsals for 2016's highly anticipated nighttime spectacular, Rivers of Light. The show was originally set to debut on Earth Day earlier this spring, but issues with the floats put the project on a hiatus. With no one knowing if the show would ever come together, Imagineers put together The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic in an effort to satisfy late-night guests. The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic ended its run on September 5, and since then, it's been all hands on deck to get Rivers of Light underway.

Disney Vacation Club is hosting four 25th Anniversary events for DVC members at the park, running 9:30pm-12:00am, and guests have been getting a bit of an unexpected treat. Before the park shut down for DVC members, the floats started to come through Discovery River and it looked like tech crews were ready to do another run through. Here's what we know:

  • 1 large lotus flower that was floating around perimeter of the river

  • 4 smaller, colored lotus flowers (red, green, blue, pink)

  • 4 animal floats that were brought out after the flowers were in place [Tiger, Turtle, Elephant & Owl]

There is still no timetable for the show-- but safe to assume it could be here by the holiday season.
