Just across the pond at Star Wars Celebration Europe, officials confirm the collaboration between comic book writer/producer David Goyer and LucasFilm to create a standalone movie revolving around Darth Vader.
This experience will break ground, as it will be the first Star Wars done in virtual reality, thanks to ILMxLab. Moviegoers will be immersed into the world of Star Wars and walk in the footsteps of a Sith Lord with virtual reality goggles and state-of-the-art headphones. StarWars.com released a press release on the announcement: "At the end of the panel, it was announced that screenwriter David Goyer is now collaborating with ILMxLAB. The brand new story-based project, revealed in a short teaser, centers around a particularly iconic Star Wars character: Darth Vader. Just like VR is a new frontier, so sounds this venture. “When we looked at all the characters, places, and worlds in the Star Wars universe available to us, we asked ourselves, ‘What haven’t we seen before? Who are we curious about?” Goyer continued, “Darth Vader is the perfect ambassador to usher us into the Star Wars VR universe.”
No word yet on a release date quite yet, but expect more news from the officials Star Wars site from SWCE.
